We went to the Saatchi Gallery, founded by Charles Saatchi who was one of the brothers who founded the global advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi. It houses contemporary art from around the world. Although exhibits change regularly, it is currently housing art from German artists. Some of it was a little too different for me, but all of it was really amazing. I think I may have found a new hobby while in London.
Yes, this is really rotten fruit. It didn't smell though.
It's hard to tell, but there are
lots of smaller objects inside the painting.
This was a piece centered around global disasters. You can see the framed drawing of the tornado covering the Southeast U.S.
Sadly enough, no Columbia.
This is a giant piece on scaffolding. It was made up of one foot by one foot canvases assembled together.
This is a giant painted scene with magazine cut-outs pasted on top of the painting.
There was a collection based on photographs from the Sunday Times, a popular magazine in the UK that I would compare to Times Magazine. I only took a picture of this sample because it has U.S. college students on the top and an young Israeli girl in front of a tank on a Jewish holiday below. Since being abroad I've learned a lot about how other countries view the U.S. and its foreign policy. U.S. and Israel relations are often topics of discussion, and I'm sure these two photographs were placed together to show the disparity between the two.
